Preaching a full sermon infront of an audience for the 1st time
My 1st preaching stint in Hungry Moses Hamstad Sweden! I was nervous but i really felt the Holy Spirit encouraging me.. Joakim a good friend and who loves Jesus was my interperter.... The Topic Salvation.. here are my notes.
Ephesians 2:4-5 , 2:8-9
4-5 But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were DEAD because of our sins, He gave us LIFE when he raised Jesus from the DEAD(it is only by grace we have been saved!)
8-9 God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this, it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done so none of us can boast about it.
Ephesians 2:4-5a God so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were DEAD because of our sins…
Define dead? (in English, maybe in tagalog, then Swedish) Emptiness..Everything we do ultimately feels empty.. Loneliness, life with no purpose, bitterness always angry, confusion, insecure and being shy, feelings of being imprisoned!
What do we do to fill this emptiness? We have relationships for the sake of just having one and wanting to be loved, studies being filled with knowledge, pursuing wealth, trying to be good or good deeds (helping the poor, helping the family,etc), meditation, alcohol and drugs, .. but our DEATH is not intellectual or physical.. but our DEATH is a spiritual DEATH.. an emptiness seated deep in our hearts that feels like a deep deep well..
Ephesians 2:5b He gave us life when He raised Jesus from the DEAD (it is only by grace we have been saved!)
What is LIFE? (there are many more LIFE in the bible but these are the majors..
Life is HOPE, that in God all things work out for the good for those who love God and who is called to His purpose.
Life is JOY, joy is not happiness because happiness comes from the word happening.. meaning happiness is from the outside working in..
Eg of happiness: a new job, a gift, kids, appreaciation from your boss, high grades, trips to our countries, a party, a dance etc.. but when the when time passes that happiness fades and we look for always the next happiness.. and then the next..but Joy is from the inside of our hearts its not determined from what happens externally but a inner feeling of love coming from God.
Life is PEACE. Peace that transcends all understanding a peace even if there is trouble we believe that God is in control and He will take care of us.. its not up to us but all up to HIM as a child expects his parents to care and feed him, protect him, love him.
How do we cross from DEATH to LIFE?
Ephesians 2:8 God saved you by His grace when u believed. And you can’t take credit for this, it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done so none of us can boast about it.
God wants to have a relationship with us but we are dead from sin, we need to be made alive, we need to be resurrected and we can’t do it by ourselves we need someone to die instead of us… someone needs to resurrect us.. we need to be made new. Jesus who is God and perfect is the only one worthy to make us new by dying, taking our place, and by dying on the cross He took our sins and nailed it.. It is finished. Jesus says come to me all of you who are thirsty and hungry He who comes to Him will never be thirsty again.. He also says in Mathew 11:28 come to me all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give u rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden I give is light.
The bible also says repent turn to God and He will give you a new life.. Repentance means a change of mind a 180 degree turn.. Turn to God! Believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord of your life.. Meaning turn your whole life and surrender it to Him
Repent and turn.. You used to believe that MONEY is the source of security REPENT turn to Jesus He is the source of Peace … you used to believed alcohol will give u happiness REPENT turn to Jesus He is the source of JOY
Jesus is the only Person that claims 2,000 years ago that he is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE no one can come to the Father except thru HIM.. when we believe and accept HIM by Faith ..then something spiritual happens.. He will give you His life, your life will never be the same again.. He said in this life we will have trouble but take heart I have overcome the world.. Jesus came to save us not from a trouble free life but from a trouble proof life!
ends with a Prayer to surrender to Jesus and recieve it by Faith!

and God speaks..
Im in the midst of a personal breakthrough and these are God's reminders for me:
1. I am not the savior but God is.. i cant save, let the Holy Spirit speak and change hearts.
2. Worry is a sin, dont allow anything or anyone steal my joy.
3. Faith, just believe.
the bible verses that confirms the reminders..
psalm 37
5 Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.
7 Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
psalm 32
6 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time,
that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.
7 For you are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with songs of victory.
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
9 Do not be like a senseless horse or mule
that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”
I really need to truly win this battle of faith, i need to get this and believe in my heart!
